Yellow Belly Backpackers sits overlooking the rolling hills of the Mayan Mountains, only a short distance from the hustle & bustle of downtown San Ignacio. We offer free bicycle rentals for quick access into downtown and are conveniently located steps from the main bus line, making arriving, departing, and visiting the surrounding areas incredibly easy.
You'll be at home when you stay with us and it starts with our staff making you feel welcome from the time you step in the door. We are here to answer your questions, help you book your tours, and guide you during your stay. So, start your morning with free breakfast before heading out on the day's adventures!
Whether you're discovering ancient Mayan ruins, exploring caves and waterfalls in Mountain Pine Ridge, or simply trying the local cuisine at the market - get the stuffed fry jack - there is so much to discover around Belize!
When it's time for dinner, you'll find several locally owned restaurants & bars nearby, or, if you'd rather cook in our communal kitchen, there are grocery stores just a minutes walk from our hostel. As the sun sets, share a Belikin beer with fellow travelers from around the world on our outside patio or indoor lounge area.

Ensuring comfort & security, our shared dorms are the perfect way to meet other travelers. Choose between fan only or air conditioned rooms. Each dorm has custom built bunk beds, spacious & secure lockers, comfortable bedding, an individual fan, multiple outlets for each bed, and shared bathrooms.
For increased privacy, choose one of our fan or air conditioned private rooms. Each room comes with comfortable bedding, towels, and shared bathrooms.
Breakfast is now included for all guests, including vegetarian and vegan friendly options!

Ruins and caves and waterfalls, oh my! San Ignacio is an adventurers paradise with so many things to explore and discover.
Immerse yourself in the ancient Mayan history and explore nearby ruins like Xunantunich (15 minutes by bus) or Cahal Pech, reachable within 5 minutes by foot. Spend the day venturing into the Mayan underworld at the ATM Cave or jumping off cliffs and swimming in waterfall pools at Mountain Pine Ridge. Spot monkeys, iguanas, and birds while canoeing down the Macal River or watch iguana eggs hatch at the Green Iguana Sanctuary.

Yellow Belly Backpackers was great! Everything is still pretty new and very neat/clean. It has a good kitchen and nice common area to meet other travellers. But the best part is the staff! All people working there are super friendly and will help you with anything. I’d recommend booking a tour with Bubbles; you’ll have fun 👌🏼.
Amazing, clean, like home, amazing sunset!!! Very clean and attention to details with everything, really felt like home. And the staff is really great. It's very quiet. 5 mins away you can see great mayan ruins, the best I've seen so far, and an amazing sunset.
