  • Cahal Pech Located just up the hill from Yellow Belly Backpackers, this is a must for all travelers looking to learn a bit more about Mayan history. The entrance fee is $5 USD and includes access to the museum and ruins. Open daily from 8:00am - 5:00pm. Learn more here.

  • Green Iguana Conservation Project Learn about the conservation and lifecycle of the endangered Green Iguana at this interactive exhibit located in the San Ignacio Resort Hotel. Entrance is $9 USD and the exhibit is open daily, 8:00am - 4:00pm. Learn more here.


  • Xunantunich Experience a hand-cranked ferry en route to one of the most famous (and hard to pronounce) Mayan ruins in Belize. Make sure to get there early to avoid the crowds and midday Caribbean heat! The entrance fee is $5 USD and inlcudes access to the museum and ruins. Open daily, 8:00am - 5:00pm.


  • Mayan Chocolate Making Learn to make traditional Mayan chocolate with a hands on demonstration. Don't forget to bring some samples back! Hours and cost vary by location.

  • Local Market Browse the stalls, purchase fresh fruits and veggies, or grab some cheap lunch. Be sure to stay in town to experience the biggest market day of the week each Saturday! Open daily until late afternoon.


  • Raptor Center Learn about the conservation of raptors and meet injured and orphaned birds of prey. Don't miss the bird show at 1:30pm! Donations are accepted. Open Monday - Saturday. Learn more here.
